Projects
Swiftle
A daily lyric-guessing game built around Taylor Swift songs. Built from scratch with JavaScript, HTML and CSS, hosted on AWS Amplify, it's had over 100,000 users in the last 12 months.
The game resets at midnight, encouraging returning players. If you’re stuck, clues roll out: first an album-colour theme, then progressively more words. A custom results screen generates a share message based on performance.
There’s also an endless mode, in-browser game-state tracking, and a lightweight database behind the scenes to keep track of all the songs and lyrics.
The Shoot Off Quiz
A monthly interactive quiz for SSAA Queensland, written, designed and coded by me. Each edition features 20 original questions in a clean layout that works on phones and desktop.
The quiz pulls from a growing bank of questions, so updates are quick without rebuilding pages. Players see their score update live, and the final screen links to related reading on the site.
The goal is simple: keep readers engaged a little longer each month and create a fun gateway from print to web content.
Digital Tuna Toss
A small web game inspired by South Australia’s Tuna Toss (with a nod to Flappy Bird). It started as a JavaScript physics and CSS animation experiment and grew into a cross-platform promo.
The game tied into an on-air radio campaign, with my VO providing commentary and Tunarama facts as players progress. It’s a neat example of simple web mechanics, sound design and broadcast working together.
It’s deliberately simple, fast to load and replayable — ideal for social sharing and on-air call-outs.
Running Pace Calculator
A minimalist tool that converts between pace, distance, and time - handy for runners and coaches. It’s designed mobile-first, loads instantly, and avoids distractions so you can get a number and get moving. The simple design matches the simple formula.
The calculator shows both the kilomtre and mile paces and updates results as you type. Save it to your home screen and it behaves like an app, without any install or login. I do this easily on iPhone using Chrome.
Built for clarity and speed, with just enough polish to make it feel nice to use every day. I've actually used it so much I have a lot of the rounded running paces memorised now!
The Report (SSAA Queensland Magazine)
I help write, edit, and lay out this monthly print magazine, which reaches more than 80,000 members across SSAA Queensland, and is also now in all states and territories. My work includes writing features, interviews, as well as production support from copy-editing to preparing assets for print and web.
The print edition is complemented by a digital version, so I am always mindful of that as well. Stories are often redone purely for web as well. That means clean headlines, thoughtful narrative and web-ready assets that look good at any size.
It’s a mix of editorial judgment and production detail, plus I get to flex my creativity and journalism skills.
